About the School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of Mathematics instruct students from across campus, including undergraduate and graduate students. Its faculty carry out research in a wide variety of Mathematical Sciences. They are key players in several cross-disciplinary institutes, centers, and programs at Georgia Tech, including PhD programs in Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization (ACO), Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), Bioinformatics, Quantitative Bioscience (QBioS), and Machine Learning (). The School plays leadership roles in the NSF-Simons Center - The Southeast Center for Mathematics and Biology, and hosts an NSF-RTG in Geometry and Topology (GTGT).

Atlanta, GA

The School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for several non-tenure track Hale Visiting Assistant Professorships for Fall 2024, subject to the availability of funds. The position consists of an annually renewable three-year research and teaching appointment as a Hale Visiting Assistant Professor in the School. In addition to a reduced teaching load in the first year, the fellowship includes research funding. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Developing an international level research program;

Collaborating across the university in research and grant efforts;

Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses.

A recent PhD or its equivalent in the Mathematical Sciences

1. Show the potential to carry out research of exceptional quality at Georgia Tech;
2. Posses research interests complementary to existing strengths in the School of Mathematics;
3. Demonstrate strong potential for external funding;
4. Have the ability in teaching, scholarship, and/or service that contributes to the Student Success Criteria listed below.

Student Success Criteria

• The ability to teach and mentor a diverse student body.
• The ability to adopt teaching strategies that support the learning and success of all students.

Consistent with these priorities, candidates will be considered in all areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

Applications must consist of i) cover letter, ii) curriculum vitae, including a list of publications, iii) a research statement including a summary of future research plans, iv) contact information for at least three letters of reference, and v) evidence of teaching interest, abilities, and related experience summarized in a teaching statement and a teaching letter of reference. Successful applicants will be expected to interact with one or more current Georgia Tech faculty members and those with whom an applicant might work should be named in the cover letter.

Applications will be considered beginning November 1, 2023, but the search will continue until the positions are filled. An earned doctorate is required by the start of the appointment.
