Cornerstone Home Lending is looking for an Accountant to join our team in Houston, TX!!! We are looking for someone with strong time management skills, organization, good work ethic and flexibility. The Accountant will assist with journal entries, reconciliations and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with recording daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries including end of month journal entries. Such entries may include, but are not limited to interest expense, interest income, prepaid expenses, accounts payable accruals, etc.
• Prepare daily cash journal entries and assist with cash reconciliations.
• Assist with daily Loan Accounting imports, entries, and other tasks.
• Assist with custodial escrow account reconciliations, analysis, and related daily transfers.
• Prepare and maintain prepaid schedules and record journal entries.
• Work with team in preparing schedules for external auditors and regulators as necessary.
• Complete special projects as assigned by Manager.
• Proactively looks for improvements and offers assistance to Accounting Manager and team.
• Other duties as assigned

What you'll need to be successful:

• Two to three years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor or Master's degree in accounting is required
• CPA or CPA eligible preferred; Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Exposure to a residential mortgage originations business is a plus, but not required.
• Must be a demonstrated strong performer who embraces a high-performance culture.
• Quick learner and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Looking for candidates who are driven to succeed in their career.
• Advanced Excel skills are required.
