Apple logoIt is important to most of us that we enjoy our work but difficult to know when you’re looking for a job whether we’ll be happier working for one employer versus another. A great way to know if an employer offers a great place to work is to ask the people who know the organizations best — their employees. For the past six years, Glassdoor has awarded its Employees’ Choice Awards to honor the 50 best places to work. For 2014, the 35th best place to work was Apple Inc.

With its headquarters located in Cupertino, California, Apple Inc. is a multinational corporation in the United States known for designing, developing, and selling consumer electronics such as personal computers, and also computer software.  The company was founded on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne, who initially focused on developing and selling personal computers, or PCs.  Apple was later incorporated in January 1977 and renamed Apple Inc. in January 2007, turning its attention to consumer electronics.  Today, Apple has over 400 retail stores in 14 countries, not to mention the online Apple Store, and iTunes Store, the biggest music retailer worldwide.

Why work at Apple Inc.?  One reason is that everything you do as an employee matters.  From how the products are packaged to how you greet the customers, all the details are important; this leads to producing the best products.  At Apple, you will also be challenged.  You have to ask yourself questions that will help you provide products that offer the best customer experience.  Also, no matter what your job is, you get to be creative.  While you might not expect innovation in certain areas of the company, Apple expects creative thinking and solutions from all employees.

There are various opportunities for college students and recent graduates at Apple Inc.  Students can work in internships, co-ops, retail store positions, and on campus/at home positions.  For graduates, they can find retail and corporate jobs, as well as other opportunities.
