The Volunteer Services Assistant provides clerical support to the Volunteer Services Department. Assists in the coordination of volunteers, volunteer projects and Auxiliary special events and functions. Provides volunteer manpower to departments to assist in department workflow. 



  • Conducts new volunteer orientation and train them on processes for the volunteer position they will cover.  Conducts all mandatory Volunteer annual education and competency sessions. Maintains Volunteer education documentation for The Joint Commission. 


  • Completes office functions for the Volunteer office such as answering phone, maintaining the Volunteer department files and the Volunteer and Auxiliary database, greeting and directing customers, reserving training/meeting rooms and equipment, preparing sale event flyers and distributing to ministry staff, sending correspondence and mailings, and maintaining office supply inventory.


  • Completes daily rounds on all volunteer work areas in hospital.  Observes work flow at each volunteer area and note concerns or problems and reports those to Director to address.  Assigns coverage for Volunteer posts within the facility.  Collects Volunteer performance information from department leaders and document any performance concerns for the Director.


  • Coordinates logistics for school tours of the site and maintains the tour calendar.


  • Assists the Director with special events such as the Style Show, Teen Style Show, Volunteer student program and any retail/auxiliary fundraising.

Education and/or Experience                                                              

High school diploma required.

One year experience in a business office setting preferred.

Customer Service experience


Computer Skills                                                          

Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel required.
