Training Specialist

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


  • Conduct learning needs analysis for Concord Operations.
  • Collaborate with SME to design training and development programs.
  • Schedule and communicate internal and external learning events.
  • Facilitate courses (where applicable).
  • Develop and/or facilitate learner assessments.
  • Track completion of program assignments and provide status reports.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration, Education, Psychology or related social sciences discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Instructional Design, Learning and Development or Workforce Planning. 
  • Experience working with Subject Matter Experts
  • Blended Learning Design experience (e-learning, classroom, etc.)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Full proficiency in Outlook, MS Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Knowledge, training, and experience in adult learning.
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Strong project management ability.
  • Ability to participate on, or lead, project or process improvement teams.
  • Clear, concise and confident written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter able to work with a minimal amount of supervision, and little or no rework



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred
  • 5+ years Instructional Design Experience
  • Prior experience with LMS (Learning Management System)
  • Proficiency in content development software (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Captivate…)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work across all levels of the organization
  • Proven working experience in coordinating multiple training events in a corporate setting
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize and coordinate them simultaneously.
