PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for learning special skills and competencies in a specific area of pharmacy practice while participating in a twelve-month program of structured post-graduate education and service experiences in order to gain advanced knowledge of pharmacy practices.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:
-Must have a Doctor of PharmD degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy.

Experience:
-Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency training program
preferred.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:
-Must be a registered pharmacist in the State of Texas or become registered within the initial three-month appraisal period.

Skills or Special Abilities:
-Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of drug therapy, drug distribution systems of the pharmacy, and formulary management skills.
-Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of all drugs, procedures, and equipment used in the operations of the pharmacy.
-Must have good oral and written communication skills.
-Must have good organization skills.
-Must be detail oriented.
-Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills.
-Must be able to demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity.
-Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in meeting age-related and handicapped patient's needs.
-Prefer ability to speak a second language.
