Where the Chemistry Happens…

In this role, you will be hold regional responsibility to lead EVJ marketing and business efforts within Fuel and Lubricant solution’s growth initiative in Compounded Lubes, Lubricant Additives, Basestocks, and Metalworking Fluids – North America.

Segment Manager - Lubricants & Lubricant Additives, Basestocks (1800643) – Florham Park, NJ / Southfield, MI

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Develop North American (NA) regional business growth efforts jointly with Global Strategic Business Unit (SBU) strategies and assist in their implementation. Define the operative marketing-mix instruments and communicate respectively. Key focus area will be on strategic OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) by identifying market needs and paths to market for existing and new product launches in the NA market. Additionally, direct efforts with potential Lube Additives, Basestock, and Metalworking market participants.
- Capture, document, and refine market intelligence per the NA Regional market. Conduct market analysis and initiate market studies. Identify and unlock new business potential in cooperation with Marketing, R&D and Sales. Contribute (Consult/Inform) to the definition, prioritization, and execution of R&D projects. Be responsible for all marketing aspects (e.g., sales forecast in the business case) in the NA Region
- Work with EVJ Technical Service Managers in support of existing and new product introductions and support for the NA Account Management Team.
- Contribute (Consult/Inform) to the pricing policy with Global and NA Regional Product Management.
- Assist Global Marketing in the development and implementation of market launch concepts for newly developed products targeted for the NA market.
- Conduct mid-term planning per market segment (quantities, sales, profitability) with responsibility for the agreed sales and profitability targets (budget).
- Communicate across functions including product management, sales, industry service, and development. Prepare and implement transportation segment related third party communication. Maintain contact and build strong network.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Finance, or Marketing; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 8 years of sales/marketing experience on global/regional OEMs Transportation, Industrial and Refrigeration (e.g. Eaton, Dana, Meritor, GM, Ford, FiatChrysler, IR, Caterpillar, Hydraulics companies, Wind, and other Gear and Compressor OEMs).
- In-depth knowledge on transportation, compressor technology, refrigerant market trends, and key stakeholders in industry.
- Strong understanding on both basestock (ester, PAG, PAO, Grp III/III+) and additive systems (AO, FM, CI) for Transportation, Industrial, and Refrigeration applications.
- Experience on technical awareness PAO, POE, PAG basestock, and compounded lubricants preferred.
- Background in product management with price/margin analysis based on raw material trend and operation cost to assist on pricing discussion to sales and customers, together with product managers.
- Experience in new product launches, developing regional strategies for lubricants.
- Demonstrated strong analytical, technical, strategic, organizational, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the technical/engineering community – internal and external.
- Capable of working effectively in an international and cross functional team environment.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Excel pivot tables and PowerPoint.
- Ready and willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
