Where the Chemistry Happens…

The LEAN Master Lead is responsible for the deployment of the Lean mindset across all locations and functions for the Coatings Business in North and South America through a team of Lean Masters and site-specific Continuous Improvement Leaders, and is accountable for all process optimization projects. The role will also ensure the sustainability of Lean through on-boarding/L&D activities at all Coatings locations in North America.

- Mentor, coach, advise, and support Lean Masters in the execution of Lean Initiatives.
- Achieve operational excellence by embedding a Lean mindset in all functions, and using Lean methods for end-to-end process optimization in EC-related activities.
- Ensure sustainable improvement in safety, quality, and process improvements.
- Lead and/or support functional and cross-functional projects.
- Train and support Lean Masters/Lean process improvement teams across the organization.
- Assist project teams with the measurement of progress against goals and objectives.
- Achieve the cost and efficiency targets according to time and budget.
- Reporting and documentation of Lean programs and projects.
- Support managers in the selection of potential Lean Masters.
- Assist managers in the definition of Lean Master programs and projects.
- Support Lean Communication and Change Management.
- Introduce personal experiences into the development of the Lean approach.
- Promote Lean concepts and motivate others in their adoption.
- Achieve global budget, cost, and efficiency targets of Lean and Operational Excellence.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field required.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification required; Master Black Belt Certification preferred
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated Lean or Lean Six Sigma deployment experience.
- Leadership experience in managing a team directly or project leader management required
- Business application knowledge (e.g., MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience in the use of statistical tools/methodologies, quality and basic financial principles, and Basic Statistics and Study of Variation.
- Prior experience with Minitab desired.
- Ability to interpret, define, and implement solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Analytical thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
- Excellent decision-making, negotiation, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills
- Ability to be a change agent.
- Ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts to reach consensus and common goals.
- Ability to demonstrate all eight global competencies.
- Must be willing/able to travel 50%, including international travel.
