Where the Chemistry Happens…

In this role, you will provide procurement leadership and support for logistics services contracts to include Surveyors, Lead Logistics Providers (as the Global Category Buyer), freight forwarders, rail car purchase initiatives, and other related logistics services contracts. In addition, you will serve as project leader for acquisitions, divestitures, global reporting systems, and quality audits. The role will provide senior project support on priority projects impacting the Logistics Procurement Team.

Regional Category Buyer – Logistics Services (1800290) – Florham Park, NJ

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Perform the role of Global Category Buyer for Lead Logistics Provider to include contract management and support negotiation of new services.
- Manage other Logistics Services contracts to ensure compliance to contract, negotiation of changes, benchmarking and bid process, and contract implementation as required.
- Run bids for rail car purchases as required from gathering specs through bidding process, contract execution, and rail car delivery.
- Serve as senior project lead for Transportation procurement on divestures and acquisitions; serve as point person to collect synergy savings and system/data support for a successful transition.
- Provide leadership and own RCMS (Responsible Care) and carrier audits from selection of audit candidates to completion of audits, and follow-up on recommendations.
- Manage global quality reporting requirements and benchmarking
- Complete other significant projects as assigned.
- Approximately 10% travel; potential to travel internationally

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Systems, or a related discipline required; MBA is a plus.
- At least 10 years of progressive business experience demonstrating strong analytical and collaboration skills.
- A minimum of 3 years of commercial experience.
- Working knowledge of transportation processes in an operational/and or commercial role preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in project management desired.
- Knowledge and skills in areas including Purchasing Operations, Contract Knowledge, and Foreign Trade.
- Entrepreneurial drive, collaboration skills, analytical skills, and ability to develop business cases to sell ideas.
