JOB SUMMARY

This role is responsible for using appropriate BI tools along with industry reporting best practices to provide report and data solutions to business users.  This role will be responsible for using enterprise data to design, create, and maintain business intelligence reports, dashboards, and extracts to support clinical, financial, research, and operational needs.

Self-motivated and functions as a role model to teammates as part of the Reporting and Analytics team mission of selecting, making available, and optimizing business intelligence reporting tools.

In addition, the role will collaborate with other analysts and analytical/ reporting and data roles to receive requirements and guidance; as well as, to guide data modeling, analysis, data visualization, and data governance. 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent technical training and experience

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

EXPERIENCE*

  • 5 years of experience with developing in business intelligence reporting software such as SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, Cognos
  • Experience in SQL programming languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • 7 years of experience using SQL Server and/or Oracle to write complex stored procedures, views, and functions. This is a true SQL development position
  • 5 years of experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and expertise in improving, troubleshooting and debugging:  procs, views, functions, etc...
  • 2 years of Peer Code Review experience

  • Current knowledge of industry-accepted best practices and trends as applicable
  • Must have an understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, and relational database design and knowledge of how to access multiple information sources
  • Knowledge of business reporting and visualization tool architectures, functions, and features
  • Ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, views, and business intelligence query objects
  • Understanding of SQL and relational and multidimensional designs

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Develops, maintains, and supports code/systems in support of business needs.
  2. Monitors and addresses data quality issues.
  3. Clarifies and resolves requirements questions.
  4. Follows technical guidelines and best practices to ensure a consistently high standard of quality.
  5. Resolves recurring technical problems.
  6. Makes recommendations for next steps and long-term improvements.
  7. Resolves defects or deficiencies with completed development, updates documentation, and provides training to support team members on completed development as necessary.
  8. Provides technical support for applications analyst as needed.

Analytics Developer

  1. Designs and delivers business intelligence reports, dashboards and extracts
  2. Creates ad hoc data queries and solves data-related reporting issues and document reports created.
  3. Ensures reported output is accurate and matches user requirements.
  4. Performs data and systems analysis to determine best business intelligence solution, e.g., reports, dashboards, scorecards, data cubes.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
