Simon specializes in aggregates, asphalt and ready-mix concrete production, asphalt paving, and concrete, bridge, highway, and utility construction. Summary: Drives trucks with capacity up to and exceeding 20 tons to transports materials to and from specified destinations. 

 

Responsibilities:
•    Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives
•    Perform pre and post-trip safety inspections on truck to assure a safe vehicle
•    Document any maintenance that may be required
•    Drive truck to and from job sites 
•    Assist in loading and unloading of materials in truck bed
•    Prepare bill of lading for loads picked up
•    Maintain contact with supervisor to receive pick-up and delivery instructions
•    Position blocks and secures cargo before, during, and after transit
•    Maintain drivers logs according to state and federal regulations

 

Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: 
•    Minimum 2 years of commercial driving required
•    Class A CDL with Doubles Endorsement and ability to maintain a clean driving record required
•    Prior experience in construction a plus

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
•    Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
•    Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
•    Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
•    Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
•    Frequent exposure to loud noise 
•    Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
•    Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
