Corning’s Glass Technologies segment manufactures chemically strengthened cover glass, such as Gorilla® Glass® for the consumer electronics market and glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains sources of information that provide relevant and timely information/insights into the mobile electronics end markets, such as handheld and tablet markets
  • Develops and leverages relationships with appropriate contacts (e.g. Purchasing, Strategy) to obtain visibility into industry demand
  • Captures, tracks, and analyzes relevant industry information to ensure accuracy and completeness of data that is used to predict the end market
  • Builds and uses analytical models to predict cover glass market demand using sound assumptions and methodology
  • Translates end market and customer inputs into cover glass demand (both short- and long-term) and identifies the implications to Gorilla Glass business
  • Integrate external end market data into internal data source (e.g., Salesforce.com) to track our business performance in the market and communicate with commercial operations team
  • Communicates with division and corporate contacts across regions (e.g., Marketing Communications, Strategy, Finance) to provide market demand information for inclusion in analyses and reporting conducted by other functions
  • Establishes and maintains various channels (e.g., news, tradeshows) for quality market data collection
  • Assesses the market for related and competing technologies and shares this information, as appropriate, to determine their expected impact on the industry/business
  • Collaborates with Competitive and Value Chain Intelligence and others within Market and Customer Analysis to compare, contrast, and link market information to develop a full view of the market environment and dynamics
  • Produces summaries of key market intelligence acquired from outside sources and distributes them among relevant internal audiences
  • Identifies gaps in market demand data and identifies, evaluates, and manages external consultants to research, collect, analyze, and report consumer market information
  • Monitors and proactively participates in engagements with external consultants, as needed, to maximize quality, optimize delivery, and minimize cost within the guidelines of a clearly established service level agreement
  • Generates and maintains database of contacts and resources that have knowledge about the industry to keep Gorilla Glass division well informed on market developments
  • Assists with ad-hoc analyses to inform Gorilla Glass leadership, Product Line Managers, and sales group as business decisions as needed
  • Creates and deploys an individual development plan that addresses performance and capability gaps


Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain or other similar discipline. MBA Preferred.
  • Masters degree and 3+ years of experience (Or BS and 5+ years) in a high tech or manufacturing environment in strategy, marketing,  operations or business development
  • Strong analytical skills with a large data sets and affinity for rigor; able to distill data to a key insight 
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills (verbal, written & presentation)
  • Project management, including superior problem solving skills preferred.
  • Able to manage through systems; designs practices, processes and procedures to ensure quality and consistency of results
  • Demonstrated ability to work within matrixed  team structure across multiple functions, time zones and cultures
  • Independent self-starter, taking initiative to resolve issues and identify opportunities
  • Aptitude towards understanding customer needs (internal or external) and translating into customer requirements
  • Business and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb technical concepts, and translate into implications and action.  A strong ‘technical curiosity’ is desired  
  • Action and results oriented … personally and through others.

  • Organizational agility -  creates alignment and action plans to support strategies and recommendations
