Project Analyst

 The primary roles of the Retail Project Analyst are to coordinate activities in the Retail PMO to ensure all Texas Retail projects meet PMO quality standards, assists with managing retail project budget requests and supports project activities within the Texas Project Execution Team. Qualified candidates will have a solid understanding of Project Management fundamentals/methodologies, as well a working understanding and application of business analysis and project execution tasks. Experience in the energy industry is preferred, as well as experience with activities that involve deliverable, timeline and budget management.

Specific duties include:

  • Manage the Texas Retail project tracking
  • Create management reporting for monthly portfolio and scorecard reviews
  • Create project cost reports for budget reporting
  • Manage capital funding requests for all Texas Retail projects through PowerSAM
  • Lead the project quality-monitoring process to effectively apply the NRG Project Management Methodology and enforce project standards
  • Facilitate data collection of projects, including, but not limited to, cost estimates, forecasting budgets and schedules for management reporting
  • Coordinate project initiation activities for business and IT projects
  • Facilitate and coordinate project meetings, lead change management and drive communications
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately
  • Interact with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand project charters and business objectives to gather, document and analyze business needs and translate to requirements for project execution
  • Support project teams through all aspects of project execution including requirements gathering, user story creation, execution of testing and as applicable project management
  • Manage annual project benefits and tracking for all capital projects
  • Ability to effectively communicate project information both written and verbally with all project stakeholders
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders, including IT and business stakeholders
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and communicate with on all levels of a project including senior and executive level management
  • Ability to drive process improvement initiatives for the Project Execution Team



  • Bachelor’s degree; experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 2+ years of experience in energy industry environments preferred
  • Business analysis experience
  • Project coordination/management experience
  • PMP certification or equivalent desired
  • Ability to deliver real and measurable results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team player
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and Project
