Job Description

The Income Tax Analyst provides preparation of income tax return filings and supports the tax management team in compliance, planning, business advisory and related tax matters. The position will also assist in the preparation of the income tax provision under ASC 740. This position is typically focused on complex income tax tasks and related business issues.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handles assigned workload for income tax compliance, estimated payments, audits and financial provision processes
  • Prepares Federal and state income tax returns and tax related computations supporting income tax provision process, business operations and business transactions
  • Develops proposed resolution of issues raised in state income tax audits and assists in developing tax planning project recommendations for implementation
  • Prepares tax computations and memoranda supporting financial reserves and income tax filing positions
  • Researches technical issues, prepares write up and communicates conclusions to management for implementation
  • Serves as an active and valued business partner in regard to tax matters and able to work with other business partners to meet tax department objectives
  • Applies professional-level technical knowledge, skills, experience and judgment to accomplish results
  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and procedures
  • Collaborates with team members to complete work on transactions, projects, controversies, regulatory developments and legislative analysis depending on the circumstances and skill set required
  • Carries out assignments received in the form of objectives and works with supervisor in developing goals and action steps that will meet those objectives
  • Works closely with manager on decisions outside of normal and customary practice
  • Reviews work to ensure that services provided meet established objectives and schedules

Job Qualifications

  • College degree in an accounting related field; CPA and Masters in Taxation a plus
  • 2-5 years of progressive income tax experience; Public Accounting practice experience preferred
  • Corporate tax department experience a plus
  • Strong technical and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and PC skills such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access and SAP
  • Ability to concurrently handle multiple responsibilities
