Position Summary:

Demonstrate a love for food and passion for people while creating an excellent customer experience by maintaining a friendly, safe and clean environment. Complete various human resources (HR) administrative and recruiting functions, primarily focusing on staffing and training for new store openings. Over the course of the internship, become a subject matter expert on the day-to-day human resources functions of staffing, onboarding, talent development, training, associate engagement and insights, and total rewards. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Demonstrate teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant working and shopping environment.
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service by demonstrating sincerity, patience and respect in all customer and candidate interactions.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and team members and potential candidates.
  • Assist in managing the store hiring process and applicant tracking system; promote job openings, identify, interview and select best fit candidates using the proper interview tools, and assess recruiting methods for effectiveness.
  • Provide a positive onboarding and orientation experience for new associates; promote the total rewards package and ensure all required forms are completed.
  • Coordinate new hire training schedules; confirm team members are fully certified for their hired position.
  • Enable new hires for success through effective onboarding processes and continued engagement.
  • Interact with department leaders and associates to determine talent strength and identify gaps.
  • Work with the recruiter and People Services manager to ensure effective training is provided.
  • Work with the HR team to develop/maintain local community relationships (e.g., schools, organizations, etc.) to increase the applicant flow.
  • Effectively address associate or applicant complaints and grievances; respond to questions/requests in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure team members understand and adhere to company policies, procedures and practices and local, state and federal laws and regulations; administer employment laws, regulations, company policies and other guidelines.
  • Perform additional HR administrative duties.
  • Operate equipment (e.g., register, computer, flatbed, shopping cart) according to company guidelines.
  • Physical demands include, but are not limited to, frequent walking, standing in one location, and lifting/carrying objects 10 to 25 lbs.; occasionally turn, kneel, reach, squat, stoop, bend and lift/carry objects up to 55 lbs. and push/pull objects up to 200 lbs.

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree; strong math skills
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lead and develop others; ability to handle stressful situations
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
  • Sound judgment/decision making skills
