Business Intelligence Developer

Job Summary:

The role of the Business Intelligence Developer is to support the needs of the business through design and development of actionable analytics, development and maintenance of the BI platform and training and support of the user community. The primary focus for this role will involve taking business and functional requirements from concept and development through to deployment to the production environment. The ideal candidate has strong experience working within an agile development environment and experience in standard project methodologies.  The Business Objects Developer collaborates with business leads and power users to design and develop insightful solutions supporting all areas of the business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on visual storytelling and KPI blueprint workshops to ensure clarity to business requirements
  • Translate story boards and metrics into technical requirements from which to develop insightful solutions
  • Train and develop user community to support casual and power user adoption of BI solutions
  • Utilize excellent communication skills both within the agile team and to business partners
  • Participate in the daily scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint demonstrations and retrospective meetings for the scrum team
  • Maintain a clear history of code through the use of source control tools
  • Build scalable solutions and ‘smart’ universe designs that can be reused in the future
  • Work independently as well as in a team to deliver end-to-end analytic solutions within tight deadlines
  • Ensure quality of deliverables using development testing methods, code reviews and user acceptance testing
  • Own and understand assigned business area to ensure stakeholders are provided with the most actionable insights for their business
  • Able to adapt quickly to new technologies to create the most insightful analytics for the business need
  • Make recommendations for enhancements and modifications to improve system performance, efficiency, internal business processes, data governance and insights
  • Possess strong Relationship management and interpersonal skills as a trusted business partner
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking current practices; participating in professional societies.

Equipment Used and Responsibility:

  • Computer, telephone and electronic office equipment
  • MS Office Suite
  • Strong understanding of Universe Design
  • Experience with SAP Business Objects suite including
    • Web Intelligence
    • Web Intelligence Rich Client
    • Information Design Tool
  • Experience with SAP HANA or similar technologies
  • Experience with creating dashboards and visual analytics
  • Strong understanding of agile and project methodologies and processes
  • Able to configure and maintain user security permissions in compliance with organizational needs
  • Occasional travel throughout the USA may be required
  • Able to work and operate from Phoenix, Arizona corporate office
  • Optional: SalesForce.com
  • Optional: SAP ECC

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business Management, Computer Science or equivalent field strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of SAP Business Objects Universe Design
  • 5+ years of SAP Business Objects Report Design
  • Advanced knowledge in SAP Business Objects tools
  • Experience in SQL with strong knowledge of relational database concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical skills, creativity, strategic thinking, organization and accuracy
  • Communicate clearly: verbal and written
