Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

1. Commit optical fibers to fill customer orders. Review and match glass, coating, color, length, strength, and optical characteristics of the order against inventory to minimize standard cost of sales and to maximize the efficient use of the inventory.

2. Analyze and manage finished goods inventories.

3. Use IFS tools and reports to efficiently manage all colored inventory to ensure alignment of manufacturing vs. existing inventory to maximize the ability to match sets of colored fibers for customer orders.

4. Attend weekly “Demand Planning” meetings with Cables and commercial group to plan for the next week’s color orders.

5. Contribute input regarding any color change requirements at the draw based on existing inventory summary.

6. Manage any cut-to-length, cut-at-draw or OLC (offline color) internal orders for completing colored sets in inventory.

7. Lend support to reconcile and report all month-end statistics for shipments, receipts, and ending inventory.

8. Select non-valued inventories for maximum utility in filling orders for mechanical samples.

9. Support the transfer of experimental fiber to valued fiber (EtoP) with communication to plant process engineers.

10. Monitor “on-hold” inventory and work with Quality and/or quarantine owners to release and/or scrap Hold fiber.

11. Manage and report out on “slow-moving” inventory. Assist in the processing of internal orders for write-offs and scraps.

12. Coordinate special customer requirements through production processes.

13. Submit appropriate change controls to update fiber databases.

14. Interface with Shipping technicians and production department leadership daily to prioritize fiber shipments and process internal shipments.

15. Work with IT/COF-Support to resolve issues with shipments or applications.

16. Review Customer Order Acknowledgments for accuracy. Communicate required changes and alternatives for meeting customer requirements to Customer Service.

17. Provide inventory availability and ware-in-process information to the Commercial Operations Group for quotations to the customer and apply promise dates to customer orders on a daily basis. Education & Experience 2 year degree or equivalent experience.
