Sales Assistant

Basic Function

Under general supervision, The Sales Assistant assists the Hotel Operations Team and Sales Manager with coordinating sales activities designed to increase occupancies and public awareness of assigned properties and of all hotels managed by Drury Hotels, LLC.

Job Duties

  1. Serves as “Lead Catcher & Distributor” for all incoming sales inquiries:  qualify each lead and distribute to the appropriate seller. 
  2. Serves as liaison between front desk and sales office, ensuring that the Front Desk is stocked with appropriate sales collateral at all times and being the primary point of contact for all walk-in sales inquiries.
  3. Assists General Manager and/or Sales Manager with correspondence and recordkeeping related to sales activities (email communication with external and internal clients, preparation of weekly information sharing reports, entering groups into Delphi, completing group resumes, beo’s, etc.)
  4. Conducts property tours, as needed when hotel receives a walk-in inquiry and to assist with sales managers or sales coordinators
  5. Maintain proper supplies within sales office (brochures, corporate account flyers, group promotion flyers, sales kits, etc.) and.
  6. Organize and distribute BEOs and Group Resumes by following the established hotel procedure (typically distributed every 10 – 14 days)
  7. Prepare all meeting room door signs for in-house meetings
  8. Handle all requests for in-house meetings to include blocking space in Delphi/LTI, preparing the BEO, & communicating needs to the hotel operations team.
  9. Assists with sales plan by researching competition, events coming to the city and monitoring areas of opportunity.
  10. Complies with hotel's safety/security rules and instructions in performing work efficiently while protecting self, fellow workers and the hotel.
  11. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

General Knowledge, Skill and Ability

Requires general knowledge of sales techniques and basic business practices.  Requires ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing.  Preferred knowledge of hotel point of sales system, Delphi, and very strong Microsoft Office skills.

Mental and Physical Requirements

EDUCATION: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of 4 years of high school.  College courses related to sales and marketing preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Requires minimum of 6 months experience in public contact environment.  Experience as a Guest Service Agent is preferred.

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Requires ability to walk and stand up to 2 hours regularly.

Working Relationships

  1. Reports to the General Manager.
  2. Maintains and promotes a positive and cooperative work relationship with all hotel departments.
  3. Works in conjunction with National Sales Office and other hotel sales personnel.
