Position Overview


The Communications Manager role is responsible for developing communications strategies, plans, and deliverables related to CRH AMAT IT and its customers. This role will leverage proven experience in organizational communication to assess communications needs and build a structure that ensures communications are effective, delivered in a timely manner, and use the appropriate delivery mechanism. A strong bias for action, ownership, continuous improvement, customer focus, and professional quality work with business partners is critical for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities & Tasks 


  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally and visually
  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Superior project management and time management skills
  • Comfortable working with a wide degree of creativity and latitude
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
  • Self motivated with a positive and professional approach to work
  • Identify communication needs and develop communications plans tailored to the needs of each audience and initiative
  • Create status updates and carry out other relevant project communications to keep stakeholders updated on progress of key AMAT IT initiatives and operational communications needs
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies and solutions, working with a mind towards continuous improvement
  • Develop a communications plan to serve the needs of both reactive communications (e.g., major incidents) and planned communications (e.g., new tools and application launches), as well as two way dialogue (e.g., FAQs)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to a complex and changing environment
  • Develop effective written communications, leveraging appropriate language, reading level, and relevant graphical treatment to ensure messaging is effective and interesting to the audience
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of work
  • Leverage available technology solutions, including streaming and live video, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, corporate portals, etc. to create effective communications channels and multi-channel dialogue
  • Proactively identify and maximize new and different communications channels
  • Develop and deploy high quality and consistent messaging in accordance with business and project guidelines


Required Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Studies, Organizational Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in a similar role
  • Results-oriented and customer-focused
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with external and internal customers, including senior management and virtual team members
  • Comfortable and effective in eliminating barriers and working across organizational, functional boundaries to achieve corporate objectives
  • Detail-oriented and organized; able to manage work and multiple tasks and manage priorities and deadlines
  • Experience working with detailed technical information, converting information into a user/audience appropriate language
  • Must be a team player and able to effectively collaborate across all levels within our organization
  • Previous experience working with various levels of the business organization and IT is essential
  • Ability to consistently drive self and others to achieve results despite obstacles and setbacks
  • Must possess strong oral / written communication and listening skills
  • Ability to achieve results with a hands-on, collaborative approach; works well in a team
  • Proficient in encouraging diverse thinking to promote and nurture innovation
  • Ability to understand customers’ communications needs, concerns, and feedback to be able to customize services and products as appropriate
  • Demonstrated ability to regularly learn and adopt new technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude
  • Capable of presenting ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly, yet persuasive language
  • Bias for learning new concepts and ideas quickly
