The Analyst within NERC/CIP Compliance provides support to the program that ensures compliance with the NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) regulatory requirements that are associated with the operation, and maintenance of Entergy Transmission, Distribution, Generation, and/or System Planning assets. This position also supports the Manager, NERC Compliance in executing a compliance program that maintains: compliance with applicable NERC Standards, constructive regulatory relationships, and superior customer service to operations personnel.

The NERC compliance program applies to all activities associated with structures, systems, and components that are compliance related or controlled by NERC standards and/or regulations.  The requirements and commitments contained in the compliance program are mandatory and must be implemented, enforced, and adhered to with the highest level of performance by all individuals and organizations for which they are applicable.


This position is in the Monitoring and Assessments group, which is primarily focused on compliance to standards that are in the enforcement stage.



  • Monitors the implementation of NERC Compliance programs in Entergy’s Transmission, Distribution, Generation, and Systems Planning organizations to ensure full compliance with all applicable NERC Reliability standards.
  • Coordinate and conduct assessments, testing, reportability reviews, and causal analysis as assigned.
  • Monitors and tracks self-reports and mitigation plans to regional entities.
  • Supports the implementation of plans, schedules, procedures, tools and processes required to establish and maintain a comprehensive NERC Reliability Compliance Program.
  • Supports regulatory audits, spot checks, self-certifications, and inspections as assigned.
  • Assists with the planning, development, and execution of training programs designed to ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Compliance program requirements by operations personnel. Travels to work sites to assist in the performance of NERC Compliance Assessments, Gap Analyses, compliance program setups, mock audits, audit participation and training of operations personnel.
  • Support the use of the corrective action process and monitor performance toward completion of corrective actions to strengthen NERC compliance program performance and to prevent recurrence of possible non-compliance with NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Provide oversight of NERC related testing to ensure tests and analyses are being performed and evidence archived to support compliance.
  • Monitor and integrate new and revised NERC standards into the NERC compliance program by serving as Compliance Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for NERC Standards as assigned.
  • Act as consultant to Business Unit customers as needed regarding compliance issues.
  • Supports department special projects as assigned.



Minimum education required of the position

  • BS/BA in a technical field such as Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent work experience.

           Desired: Masters Degree

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Analyst III:  4 - 6 years of Professional Experience.
  • Analyst Sr.:  6+ years Professional Experience.

           DESIRED: Practical experience in power plant or transmission operations, engineering, asset management, and/or maintenance. Formal training in aspects of power generation or transmission systems and equipment, including operational theory                                                   and engineering safety. 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Ability to analyze large amounts of technical data and structure such information for the purposes of clearly documenting and demonstrating compliance with all applicable NERC Reliability Compliance standards.
  • Ability to formulate and communicate thoughts and ideas developed into cogent operational guidance for personnel.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills and an ability to communicate information in both formal and informal settings.
  • Thorough knowledge of English composition principles and technical and non-technical vocabulary required.
  • Knowledge of computers, word processing programs, and analysis in spreadsheets/databases mandatory.
  • Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
