Position Summary:     

Partners with the Sales Manager on the development and implementation of sales strategies designed to maximize sales and profit margins.  Be responsible for the performance of established strategies within assigned area.  Track and report progress of sales programs to the sales manager and management team. You will be responsible for establishing a consultative relationship with commercial, residential, and industrial customers.  You will be expected to demonstrate leadership, collaborate and communicate effectively with your assigned accounts key decision-makers to research, analyze, and solve problems.  Persuasively implement recommendations that contribute to profitably building our mutual business.  Maintain branch price integrity.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

1.     Assist the Sales Manager in developing strategy and tactics that ensure the attainment of company sales goals and profitability.

2.     Conduct in-depth analysis to include demand forecasting, competitor capabilities, customer profiles and the next best alternatives. Know your competitor’s prices, products, and capabilities. Use their weaknesses and our strengths to maximize profitability. Use the CRM system to catalog your information.

3.     Bid all appropriate jobs within assigned marketing area. Participate in the development of bid strategy for each job. Log Key Opportunities into the CRM system.

4.     Establish short and long term goals and strategies in regards to key clients. Develop specific action plans to achieve goals and log on CRM. Establish relationships with client’s primary decision makers.

5.     Make specific recommendations regarding advertising, promotions, and public relations as they affect sales and stakeholder management.

6.     Partner with other departments (Quality Control, Production Operations, Transportation, Dispatch, etc.) to ensure every account receives appropriate level of customer service as well as discuss new ideas and product segmentation plans.

7.     Communicate with others as necessary to manage and coordinate sales to customers who overlap geographic boundaries, as well as to leverage the OMG portfolio across company boundaries.

8.     Actively participate in industry-related associations (ABC, AGC, Homebuilder Associations) in order to develop and maintain key business relationships.

9.     Use creative and persistent selling to establish new accounts. Analyze new and existing accounts and prioritize your efforts on those accounts with the long-term volume and profit potential. Keep a list of our competitor’s accounts you are contacting and any progress being made. Keep this list on our CRM. Log required sales reports into CRM no less than weekly, more often if required

10.  Understand your customer’s business and problems. Find innovative ways to aid their business. Those innovations should provide value for OMG also. Become a consultative expert in our field. Inform customers when our products are being used improperly or when product quality is being impaired. Document such discussions for later review.

11.  Report all unsafe conditions or behaviors on the job or yard. Take appropriate action to stop unsafe behavior.



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. Minimum 1-3 years of sales or sales related experience, preferably in the construction or construction materials industry. Prefer, but not necessary, some experience in Quality Control in concrete/aggregates/asphalt

1.     Demonstrate strong business acumen in regards to all aspects of sales and marketing; be knowledgeable in regards to current and possible future industry trends.

2.     Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers – both internal and external.

3.     Be able to analyze current processes and recommend changes to maximize efficiency.

4.     Be action oriented and drive for results.

5.     Foster a collaborative, team-based approach.

6.     Keep accurate trading area share information updated no less than monthly.

7.     Exhibit safe conduct in the field and point out any unsafe acts by employees or customers.

8.     Maximize use of our customer relationship management tool. (
