Purpose of the position:

To ensure Panalpina USA attracts, hires and retains the best employees, while growing a strong talent pipeline in key areas. The focus of this position is to undertake full-cycle recruiting, from talent sourcing and attracting candidates to interviewing, hiring and onboarding for the specified geographic area. Collaborate with district leaders on a regular basis and proactively identify future hiring needs. Accomplish HR and organization mission by executing a high-touch recruitment and onboarding approach for all candidates and new hires.

Key Tasks:


* Confer with management and supervisors to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills.
* Determine applicant requirements through strategy meetings with DHHR/hiring manager for each position.
* Develop and update job descriptions and job specifications.
* Work with HR Associate to create requisitions and post positions.
* Source and attract candidates by using databases, social media, job boards and referrals.
* Evaluate and screen applications and maintain job dispositions in the candidate management system.
* Conduct initial interviews and assess candidate knowledge, skills, experience and aptitudes using various reliable personnel selection tools/methods.
* Recommend candidates and arrange interviews by coordinating schedules and arranging travel.
* Extend offers and provide candidates with all necessary documentation during the offer phase.
* Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process.
* Maintain an external pipeline of high value candidates for future hiring needs.
* Develop and maintain relationships with local universities and alumni groups to source interns and candidates for early career development programs and entry level positions.
* Provide analytical and well documented reports to hiring managers, HR partners and key stakeholders.
* Promote company’s brand as an employer of choice in the forwarding and logistics industry.
* Avoid legal challenges by understanding current legislation, enforcing regulations with managers,
* recommending new procedures and conducting training.


* Facilitate communication between hiring manager and new hire.
* Oversee pre-hire screening processes to ensure candidates meet Panalpina requirements.
* Coordinate onboarding and new hire training plan with hiring managers and product heads to ensure smooth transitions for new hires.
* Conduct new hire orientation to ensure new hires gain an understanding of the company profile, values, and benefit plans.
* Work with business unit representatives to ensure that employees complete all necessary paperwork

Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Process working:

* Proven work experience as a Recruiter either an in-house recruiter or a staffing agency recruiter.
* Solid ability to conduct different types of interviews (structured, competency-based, etc.)
* Hands on experience with various selection processes (phone interviewing, reference check, skills testing)
* Ability to organize assessment centers (in tray activities, work samples, psychometric and IQ/EQ tests)
* Strong knowledge of employment law as it pertains to recruitment and selection

Educational background:

* BS in Human Resources preferred
