Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, engineer, implement and monitor all aspects of projects
  • Assist in the identification and justification of capital requirements
  • Coordinate development, engineering, procurement and installation timelines
  • Provide direction for maintenance activities
  • Assume project manager responsibilities, when assigned, for capital projects
  • Design and specify installation requirements for new processes or modifications to existing processes
  • Monitor capital projects for adherence to budget and schedule
  • Justify discrepancies during the course of the project so that approval for added funds can be requested promptly
  • Manage various trades during projects, as assigned, to insure proper building construction and installation of equipment occurs on schedule
  • Monitor schedule and update, as necessary, to keep company management informed of schedule changes
  • Assist plant personnel in training and start-up of completed systems
  • Perform preliminary engineering for the various departments by concepting solutions and designing modifications to existing buildings, equipment, and processes. This includes equipment sizing, equipment arrangements and alternates, control systems, and equipment cost estimates and quotes
  • Assist the manufacturing staff by developing project budgets and schedules for approval by company management.
  • Submit documentation; suggest alternative solutions, and follow-up as required
  • Provide engineering support services to the manufacturing department upon request to diagnose and trouble shoot equipment and process problems
  • Design or recommend small modifications to the equipment, process, or operating procedures
  • Investigate new equipment, technology, and construction methods and recommend application to for improved product manufacturing at reduced cost

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required
  • 3-5 years of combined plant/process engineering and project management experience, preferably in the Food, Pharmaceutical or specialty chemical sector
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective communicator with strong cross division/function team leadership skills
  • A highly-motivated self-starter who is able to think independently, yet work as a team player
  • Working knowledge of lean tools and TPM implementation
