YOUR ROLE
Responsible for managing the procurement aspects of two high volume, high spend areas in the NA cluster: Warehouse consumables and IT. Warehouse consumables activities include sourcing, purchasing, leasing, rental, maintenance and disposal. IT responsibilities include working closely with the IT Department to source and execute IT hardware, software, maintenance and telecom purchases. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Manage all Warehouse consumables procurement activities, including sourcing, RFQ’s, field support, fuel negotiation, lease driver sourcing and contract, onboard technology, equipment specifications and development, asset disposals, asset purchases, oversight on all maintenance activities and DOT SmartWay certification.
- Manage the purchase of packaging, label, printers including specs, sourcing, negotiation and supplier selection.
- Develop leading edge equipment specifications and standards to optimize requirements.
- Evaluate existing and source new national, regional and local sourcing programs to cut cost, reduce downtime and improve service levels.
- Negotiate a best-in-class transport equipment and maintenance pricing.
• Perform audit and negotiating function on large dollar maintenance expenditures.
• Create effective monthly MPG management reporting.
• Source, negotiate and manage tire national account programs.
- Maximize gains on the disposal of company assets by increasing the market size of potential buyers and by negotiating favorable pricing.
- Enhance the asset management function though effective utilization monitoring and timely repositioning and disposal of surplus assets.
- Manage the company’s Warehouse consumables initiates.
- Perform fleet assessment to secure annual DOT SmartWay certification.
- Support the BD and ZDS teams in efforts to secure new business or maintain existing accounts.
Manage the CEVA CL, FM and Ground IT procurement.
- Establish key strategic relationships to leverage scale and provide competitive cost and service advantages.
- Assist with IT equipment sourcing and specifications for scanners, laptops, desktops, servers, routers and thermal label printers. Negotiate purchase and lease contracts for all office equipment, including MFDs, document scanners and mail machines. Negotiate and manage annual and/or preventative maintenance programs and audits on IT equipment including hardware, software, dock scanners and MFDs.
- Drive cost savings through operational control, best practices and asset utilization.
- Ensure internal control and compliance with corporate purchasing policies and procedures (i.e., I-Procurement, AFE’s, AP audits and monitoring of authorization requests and supplier selection).
- Perform software selection and negotiation.
- Manage and oversee Technology Buyer’s responsibilities - processes financial transactions to IT vendors and responds to vendor inquiries, answers internal questions regarding the products and services provided by IT vendors, researches vendors of IT related products and services, recommends purchase of hardware and software in alignment with company and industry standards, troubleshoots any existing problems with vendor products and services, maintains relationships with vendor contacts, in order to resolve complaints and to report the status of the relationship to senior management, monitors vendor compliance with contractual obligations and measures performance based on company criteria, approves recommendations of new products, services and vendors, develops, or assists in the development of Request for Information (RFIs), Request for Proposal (RFPs) and business cases, ensures that products and services meet the needs of internal customers, participates in the negotiation process of service level agreements and ensures that contractual obligations are met and pursues new vendor relationships when necessary, seeks to achieve the most profitable service from vendors.
- May initiate contract changes when required.
- Serves as the point of contact for both internal customers and vendors.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of fleet and IT operational and procurement experience.
- Extensive knowledge of CL and FM businesses.
- Knowledge of high value negotiation and sourcing processes and methodologies.
- Strong technical understanding and in-depth knowledge of transport equipment and IT specifications and applications.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering or related.
Skills:
- Strong financial understanding and fundamental knowledge of accounting and financial statements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
- Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
- Analytical, problem solver, self-starter, good communicator, leader, strong negotiation skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in demanding environments with tight deadlines.
- Capable of communicating and relating to all levels of the organization verbally and in written form.
Travel: some to sites when needed.
