You may review, modify, or update your information by visiting and logging into the careers section of the system.Job Description:At Regions, the Performance Engineer conducts a wide range of quality control tests and analysis to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements and monitor the performance of the production systems. In addition, this senior level position provides guidance and collaborates with various groups to develop and deploy high performing applications and systems.Primary Responsibilities
  • Researches, designs, recommends, and drives performance strategies for emerging technologies such as cloud, or containerization
  • Designs and implements availability, scalability, and performance plans for various platforms
  • Collaborates with various teams to mitigate performance bottlenecks throughout the entire application stack
  • Provides leadership and mentorship for performance engineering processes, tools, and best practices
  • Diagnoses, tracks, and manages performance issues to resolution in testing and production environments
  • Designs, scripts, configures, and runs performance tests to validate production readiness of software applications and infrastructure for stability and performance against Non-Functional Requirements
  • Procures, compiles, and conditions test data as needed to properly simulate test scenarios
  • Designs, builds, and uses dashboards that enable efficient monitoring of applications and systems running in production environments to troubleshoot issues and report findings
  • Provides summaries and assessments of the application's performance, emphasizing trends over time, conducting deep dive analysis when necessary
  • Collaborates with Application Development teams during story design to ensure new application features are developed in a performant and resilient manner
  • Fosters collaboration and participates in the Performance Engineering Community of Practice, a technical platform that enables knowledge sharing, cross-collaboration, standardization, and innovation
  • Serves as a subject-matter expert (SME) on methods of integrating testing best practices into the application development lifecycle to successfully reduce friction, identify potential problems early, and improve cross-collaboration
  • Collaborates with other engineers throughout the entire SDLCThis position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and five (5) years working as a Performance Engineer or related experience with high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems, client-server architectures on-prem and cloud, and software application development or test automation
    • Or High School Diploma or GED and nine (9) years working as a Performance Engineer or related experience with high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems, client-server architectures on-prem and cloud, and software application development or test automationPreferences
      • Experience with Cloud DevOps (Kubernetes)
      • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), C, C++, C# or Java programming, and automated testing methodologies
      • Familiarity of mobile app (Android and iOS) and web technology stack (HTTP, REST, HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
      • Familiarity with application architecture, design, capacity planning, and application performance best practices
      • Familiarity with container technologies
      • Familiarity with open source load testing tools such as Apache JMeter, httperf and APM, infrastructure monitoring tools like Splunk
      • Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases - querying, profiling and performance tuning
      • Understanding of On-Prem and CloudSkills and Competencies
        • Ability to dissect multi-tiered systems and track data flow throughout an entire application stack
        • Experience with other tools and frameworks such as HP LoadRunner, Splunk, Fiddler, Dynatrace, JMeter, Hammer, Performance Center
        • Knowledge of application scalability and performance tuning (Web-based, n-tier, MQ, CICS)
        • Understanding of performance analysis and testing processes
        • Effective communication and leadership skills
