Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Pharmacy Improvement Coordinator provides ongoing leadership, support, instruction and facilitation to meet and exceed quality and performance improvement, as well as, regulatory standards. The Pharmacy Improvement Coordinator supports regulatory compliance and quality improvement efforts in areas such as Board of Pharmacy regulations, medication management guidelines, external pharmacy accreditation support, and pharmacy quality utilizing tools from the Toyota Production and Management systems. This position will support pharmacy sites through activities including, but not limited to: policy management, compliance audits, validation of adherence to regulatory guidelines, consultation and guidance on regulatory and improvement best practices, and management/interpretation of associated data.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead quality improvement teams by transforming data into information, obtaining consensus from stakeholders, and facilitating implementation of action plans to meet identified areas of opportunity.
  • Participates in applicable meetings to discuss/communicate trends and data analysis to service line/department leadership. Develops collaborative relationships with service line/department physician and leadership team members to disseminate data across the service line.
  • Assists with implementation of ongoing organizational needs assessment for pharmacy quality, regulatory compliance, accreditation, and certification activities to ensure that all pharmacy service line/department sites are in compliance with required standards, including, but not limited to, the development and implementation of tracking of and efforts to continuously evaluate standards compliance. Works with pharmacy teams to maintain continuous readiness. Makes appropriate recommendations based on assessment.
  • Demonstrates competence to select and utilize data analytic software and platform functions as appropriate for role.
  • Assists with development and monitoring of basic dashboards, scorecards, and routinely updates compliance reports that monitor pharmacy quality, patient safety, regulatory preparedness outcomes.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert (SME)/resource for Board of Pharmacy regulations, medication management standards, pharmacy performance improvement indicators and ensures that data are interpreted accurately according to best practice and standard work procedures.
  • Participates in project development, facilitation, implementation, utilizing Toyota Management and Production systems.
  • Works collaboratively with internal partners, such as Quality, Risk Management, and Lean Promotion Office.
  • Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development though continuing education, conference attendance, workshops, and seminars.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree in pharmacy, business, IT or other related field
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines while maintaining composure
  • Excellent communication, writing, organizational, time-management, and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, administrative staff, clinical personnel, peers, and patients
  • Demonstrate persistence in solving problems
  • Travel between UKHS sites/locations

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree—MHSA, MBA, Nursing Organizational Leadership, Public Health, Informatics or other related field.
  • Certified Professional in HealthCare Quality (CPHQ)
  • Experience/working knowledge with database management tools (i.e. Microsoft Access, RedCap, Minitab, Visio, or other electronic data capture systems
  • Healthcare Experience
