Lead Embedded Software Engineer, EV Charging Systems

Rhombus Energy Solutions a BorgWarner Company has an opportunity for a result oriented and driven Lead Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at our Dearborn, MI.This role will be responsible for supporting current product firmware development, implementation, and validation for DC Fast charger platforms. This individual will also be responsible for understanding and suggesting improvements to the embedded implementations. In addition, this role will work closely with third party vendors to support trouble shooting and resolution of 15118 related interoperability features and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement, test, and troubleshoot DC Fast Charger firmware for current product.

Create technical reports and audience appropriate summaries

Initiate and lead design reviews and technical discussions, including brainstorming.

Understand hardware circuit – Analog Circuits, Digital Electronics, Embedded hardware circuits schematics and basic Power Electronics

Analyzing and provide guidance to enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources

Mentor other engineers and Review code and design

Support scripting, as needed, to improve lab and end of line test automation.

Lead technical discussion and design reviews with vendors and cross-function groups

Develop test and validation plan in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements

Collaborate with Power Electronics engineers to support validation of DC Fast Chargers in a lab/validation environment

Conduct software defect root-cause analysis for DC fast charger embedded sw and 15118 / OCPP related issues

Performs resource profiling, leads implementation and validation of corrective actions.

Leads documentation of software documentation to support UL 1998

Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationships across the business and with third party suppliers

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electromechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

7 years of engineering experience in software development

3 years of related engineering experience in developing software and/or firmware for power electronic products

5 years of experience in embedded software architecture and/or C/C++ programming.

5 years of experience with development tools such as compilers and embedded debuggers.

1 year of experience with Linux/Unix OS and command line interfacing

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities

Knowledge of web-based services like Amazon Web Services

Strong interpersonal, communications, listening and leadership skills

Ability to read electrical schematics and identify on embedded system.

Knowledge of UL standards and test procedures

Working knowledge of software sequence diagrams

The ideal candidate would have experience in, or knowledge of 15118, OCPP in an e-mobility ecosystem.
