Description

KEY OBJECTIVE:

  • Support the Home Office Underwriting team to improve and ensure underwriting standards are met for all International Accident & Health markets around the world. These include but are not limited to supporting underwriting audits, authority delegation and development of underwriting policies/procedures and guidelines. The role will c ollaborate with a broad range of international colleagues in areas including business development, marketing, Digital/IT, product development, actuarial, underwriting, finance, and operations.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports all aspects of the underwriting audit process including cycle management/schedule management, audit recommendations tracking, guideline and training development, documentation, analysis and reporting, system management and process improvement
  • Monitor the peer review process and reporting
  • Support the administration of underwriting authorities and annual delegation and attestation processes
  • Support the development of IAH Policies, Procedures, UW Bulletins, UW guidelines
  • Log underwriting referrals and submissions for documentation and trend analysis
  • Support the quarterly review of Account Management and Portfolio Management reporting including performance monitoring of key accounts and special acceptance accounts
  • Assist with ceded reinsurance treaty renewals, approval submissions, quarterly tracking and exposure monitoring as needed
  • Support underwriting training and development initiatives
  • Coordinate ad-hoc underwriting projects as needed
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in business and/or related field required
  • Minimum of 2-4 years related work experience (including any internship experience) with a sound understanding of general insurance concepts, practice, and procedures
  • Experience in underwriting or Accident and Health products are a plus
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, strong initiative, and drive
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, professionalism and diplomacy in decision making in individual and group interactions with people from different cultures
  • Strong analytical and inquiry skills to evaluate situations and make logical decisions
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and Windows Software products
  • Ability to learn third-party systems, web-applications and databases and become proficient
  • Desire to work in an international insurance environment
  • Ability to travel internationally
