Internally titled: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Role Summary
As the Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will work closely with the Facilities Manager to support the day-to-day operations of two Vancouver-based locations - a 15,000 sq. ft. office space and a 24,000 sq. ft. warehouse. In this role, you will conduct repairs and maintenance, meet with contractors and vendors, and troubleshoot and resolve issues. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will also liaise regularly with the Office Services Team and Director of Operational Excellence.
Responsibilities
Respond to assigned maintenance requests through the Facilities ticketing system and report on completed requests
With the direction of the Facilities Manager, conduct plumbing, electrical, furniture, painting, and drywall repairs
Perform scheduled, preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance as required
Maintain and ensure the proper operation of the electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life/safety components at each Eminence location and conduct building walkthroughs to identify general corrective maintenance
Along with the Facilities Manager, respond to after-hours emergency calls and carry the Facilities cell phone
Build and maintain strong relationships with our vendors, ensure tasks are complete, and report progress to the Facilities Manager
Ensure janitorial services are maintained and daily cleaning responsibilities are carried out in accordance with checklists and agreements
Assist the Facilities Manager in ensuring waste removal services are conducted as scheduled
Participate in the Health and Safety Committee to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Support the Facilities Manager with the operation of security and building systems
Physical Requirement
Must be able to lift 30 lbs. comfortably and regularly
Comfortable working on ladders at various heights
Qualifications
Successfully completed, or in the process of completing, WHMIS, BOMA, IMFA, or Building Services Worker Program
1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance
1 to 2 years of experience working alongside vendors and contractors
Experience supporting maintenance requests within an office environment
Skilled with the use of tools, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting
Demonstrate responsibility and ownership - ability to see things through and manage tasks and projects to completion
Strong customer service focus
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work with a sense of urgency
Superior analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work well with minimal supervision and with many styles of direct leadership
