LIBURDI TURBINE SERVICES™ offers a wide range of engineering services and component repairs in support of the gas turbine industry for both aero derivative and industrial frame engines through facilities located both in Dundas, Ontario and Mooresville, North Carolina. The company specializes in the use of advanced technologies for the refurbishment of super alloy components.
We are currently seeking a qualified Manufacturing Quality Tech who will be responsible for facilitating design for manufacturing assessment, production quality launches, complete standard procedure reviews, apply fundamental statistical methods for process control, assist with Continuous Improvement Projects, ensure control plan implementation. Review inspection results and ensure all products shipped meet all Customer dimensional, material and systems specifications or documented deviations to those specifications. This position will report to the Manufacturing Manager.
We have one (1) position available on our day shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm.
Typical Duties Include (but are not limited to):
- Ensures the Quality Management System (QMS) is applied in the shop as part of quality control processes.
- Understand, apply, and ensure compliance with technical specifications and drawings requirements on customer parts.
- Responsible for ensuring effective closure of quality related issues and findings.
- Manufacturing Quality Control interface/liaison with Quality Assurance team and Engineering team.
- Work closely with Project Engineers to support new product launches, engineering changes implementation and product / process continuous improvement initiatives and related activities.
- Must be proficient in hands-on process, root cause analysis and troubleshooting to solve quality problems.
- Giving manufacturing and quality “fast response” support in containment leadership, ensuring sorting actions are adhered to and corrective action resolution.
- Be responsible for preparing inspection plans and instructions
- Assist in training and development of production and inspection personnel on operating new or existing tooling, equipment and processes.
- Initiate and follow Material Deviation Notice (MDN) process for temporary changes to process, tool design, etc.
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in various multi-disciplined teams in addressing and fulfilling various company objectives associated with, manufacturing process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap/rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitment
- Create and Keep “Lessons Learned” database up to date and provide regular feedback to eliminate Rework and Scrap.
- Audit in-process and final inspections of parts to ensure compliance to the standard procedures and material control documentation
- Review documentation package assembled at final inspection and packing for accuracy and completeness related to material control card and sales order.
- Initiate ECN process to recommend any permanent changes to process, tool design, etc.
- Facilitate Process Certification events, Manufacturing Process Reviews and standard procedure reviews
- Generate implement and maintain Quality Control Plans.
- Coordinate Gauge R&R evaluations with calibration team
- Review & Stamp Calibration certificates when required
- This role will require learning new methodologies and standards related to Quality.
- This role will require learning of all key manufacturing processes
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
- Other duties as assigned by Manufacturing Manager

Key Education / Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of recognized post secondary degree or diploma in Quality Assurance Field
- Three (3) – five (5) years of related work experience in a Design and Manufacturing environment (Oil & Gas or Aerospace preferred)
- Proficient with Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required
- Familiarity with NDE techniques such as LPI, UT, and RT is required
- Experience with mechanical measuring instruments including micrometer, Vernier, tape measure, Height Gauge is required
- ASQ “Certified Quality Technician” and Six Sigma certification an asset
- Familiarity with quality management systems standards ISO 9001, AS0100 is required
- Familiarity with Non-Conformance reporting and NCR Quality Notifications is required
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability in the application of quality control activities in a Manufacturing environment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings / SolidEdge Model including geometric dimensioning and tolerance is required
- Proficient with Six Sigma techniques, PFMEA, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing is an asset
