General Summary


Responsible for all domestic and international FP&A (financial planning and analysis) functions including financial analysis, management reporting and pricing support for assigned VSP Global line of business (LOB). Work in conjunction with the Business Controller and LOB leadership on developing pricing policies and oversight, as well as management reporting and analytics for the Company.   

Essential Functions

Primary responsibility to develop, implement, execute and monitor FP&A policies, procedures and controls


Act as the key point of contact for Company for all pricing and analytic reporting


Produces actionable management information and analysis issuing periodic financial and operating reports, interpret operating results, and ensures specificity in accordance with appropriate accounting standards


Prepare financial analysis of Company corporate and by business segment


Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and forecasts


Manage pricing policies and processes for Company, implementing and managing pricing and discounting guidelines to Company, and lead pricing projects and initiatives


Develop and leadLOB pricing committee to assess and approve pricing strategies


Develop and manage discount budget and processes and accountability for results


Manage pricing integration and oversight in Company financial systems


Provide guidance, analysis and recommendations on intercompany pricing strategies in compliance with Global IC pricing policies


Assures compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations and laws


Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives


Establish good working relationships across Company functions and business units


Develop, mentor and grow personnel within the organization


Monitor performance of direct reports; provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling; conduct performance reviews and recommend salary increases


Participate in the hiring and interviewing process for open positions within the unit ensuring that the most qualified candidates are selected. 


Assure effective communications are maintained within the unit and externally.  Where appropriate, inform employees as to plans and progress; conduct employee discussion sessions at regular intervals


Participate in a wide variety of special projects at Corporate or LOB level, as needed


Coordinate with other units/departments to facilitate special requests, resolve work flow or production issues


Perform all other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:


Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Management or equivalent training, education and experience


Twelve years of management, supervisory and/or leadership experience


Twelve years of previous Financial Analyst, Controller, or Finance experience


Multi-location and multi-business experience

Ability to delegate work responsibility with strong interpersonal skills

Problem solving and strategizing capabilities

Progressive experience leading teams and managing projects

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate with peers, subordinates and executive management


Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles


Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects


Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills


Excellent maturity and judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial environment; maintain composure under pressure and have the ability to balance competing priorities


Clean credit history as reported by credit report


Ability to regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties.


Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Management or equivalent training, education and experience, MBA a plus. 
  • Ability to delegate work responsibility with strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience leading teams and managing projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate with peers, subordinates and executive management. 
  • Pricing analysis, modeling &/or processes and controls experience. 
  • Advanced excel skills & other modeling or database/query tools experience.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

The working environment is generally favorable.  Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust etc.
