Responsibilities

The Clinical Program Manager, Cardiothoracic Surgery:

* Is primarily focused on clinical management, favorable impact on quality of care, and is responsible to educate frontline nursing staff to provide optimal outcomes.
* Uses a variety of skills to educate, consult, and manage the cardiothoracic patient population and assist the patient/family, the patient care team, and physicians.
* Works collaboratively with the health care team including cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, other physicians involved in the patient's care, nurses, case management, and with departments affecting the care of the cardiothoracic surgery patient; i.e. respiratory, radiology, ED, SICU, Trauma, post-surgical nursing units, OR, PACU, Cardiac Cath Lab, Same Day, IR, etc.
* Acts as a clinical educator working with staff on clinical competencies, new equipment, new procedures, and advanced practice skills.
* Utilizes clinical skills to affect a quality patient experience.
* Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent team building and problem-solving skills, and a strong ability to take initiative and drive improvement
* Consistently demonstrates a commitment to quality and patient centered-care
* Is responsible for consultation, clinical teaching, staff development, and nursing practice in the CTS ICU

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

* BSN in Nursing required
* Master's Degree in Nurse Practitioner Program preferred.
* Must be enrolled in Nurse Practitioner Program within 2 years of hire.

Minimum Experience:

* Five years of related nursing experience in a CTSICU required
* Previous teaching experience preferred

Required Certification/Registration:

* Current NYS RN Nursing licensure or reciprocity eligible from another state required.
* Current New York State License as a Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred.
* CCRN (Adult) or CSC (Adult) required.
* ACCNS-AG eligible and required to be obtained within two years of assuming the role.
* ACLS required.

Required Skills:

* Requires demonstrated strong interpersonal, teaching, oral and written communication skills to interact with all levels of hospital personnel, the medical staff, patients and other customers.
* Ability to multi-task.
* Requires demonstrated practical knowledge of common office software applications including Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.
* Requires demonstrated experience using EPIC in a clinical setting.

Physical Requirements: Travel to multiple facilities is required.

Working Conditions:

* Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards.
* Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.
* Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
