About the role
You will help support the on going effectiveness and management of this government departments Information System which includes managing the service queue of functional requests and data changes.
About you
Preferably you will be an experienced hands on systems officer that can support the wide department systems and communicate effectiveness and change to senior members of staff. 
This department runs a number of small and some large programmes and projects, candidates that have experience of working with project management methodologies are preferred. 
Main Duties and Responsibilities. 
  • Research, document and design computer users' requirements and later tests the validity and logic of programs and either makes or negotiates amendments, prepares reports, manuals and documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of system software for use by computer equipment suppliers, systems designers, programmers and computer operators.
  • Develop and apply project management skills and knowledge to successfully scope, plan, deliver and evaluate medium sized projects or a number of small, often related projects under a larger Information Systems project or strategy
  • Coordinate both technical and non-technical staff in the support, maintenance and development of information systems including front-end applications and databases.
  • Prioritise the workloads of staff allocated to support the Program’s systems team in order to deliver required outcomes to business to the required standard in the agreed timeframe
  • Identify issues, handle them pro-actively and communicate business information systems management issues effectively to senior management and staff.
  • Act as tier 1 support and administrator for applicable information systems in your program
  • Prioritise and coordinate the implementation of the ICT-related projects such as mobility, software development and system enhancements, business process reviews and IT infrastructure upgrades to meet the requirements and expectations of the business and introduce operational efficiencies.
  • Supervise the allocation of work assignments and tracking of progress from direct reports. Ensure all HR responsibilities are undertaken according to policy; including recruitment, performance management and leave applications.
