Investa is currently seeking a Group Treasurer to join a small but mighty team. This newly created role will be a senior member of the Finance team and reporting to the CFO. The Treasury function is considered one of the most critical functions of the business as it supports the execution of the broader business strategy through a variety of initiatives that support the Funds and Mandates. 
Treasury encompasses all areas of facility, liquidity, interest rate, foreign exchange, and cash flow management. This role supports the Group’s activities primarily through proactive cash flow modelling of funds and mandates, arranging and managing various debt facilities, contributing to the establishment and development of the Fund’s and Mandate’s financial risk management policies, and managing the Group’s key financial risks. Together the Treasury and Finance functions align to provide advice and insights to support and execute on key strategic decisions. You will have one direct report.

Your role will be responsible for:

Financial Risk Management

  • Management of the day-to-day treasury function to ensure liquidity requirements of all Funds and Mandates are optimised with the required governance to ensure confidence in the function is maintained.
  • Proactively manage and quantify key financial risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies and/or remedial action where necessary
  • Developing hedging strategies for the Funds and Mandates to manage risk within approved risk management practices which enable the Funds and Mandates to achieve their strategic objectives.
  • Debt Funding and Bank Reporting
  • Establish and maintain the function as the internal debt/ financial risk management advisory and execution team for Senior management and the Fund Managers forecasting, planning and management of their Fund and Mandate future financing requirements.
  • Lead the business in it’s ability to access debt (including new markets) as and when required at an optimal price which achieves the strategic requirements of the Funds and Mandates.
  • Lead debt investor relations on behalf of the business with existing and potential future debt providers in the local / global market including relevant presentations, roadshows. 
  • Lead the development of new debt/ financial risk management solutions in the developing sectors of BTR, Office Value Add/ Core + sectors to ensure the Funds and Mandates are able to take advantage of opportunities in these developing markets to meet the fund’s strategic objectives. 
  • Implement and maintain [best in class/ effective] ESG/ Sustainable/ Green Financing practices in conjunction with internal specialists for the group 
  • Monitor, report and communicate financing/ hedge portfolio performance against strategic objectives including the economic outcome of the hedge programs. 
  • Processes, Policy & Compliance

  • Leading the preparation and development of all Treasury Committee (Committee) and Board recommendations, meetings, papers and approvals for all Funds and Mandates on a regular basis.
  • Provide recommendations regarding policies and governance issues.
  • Early identification and reporting of potential risks to compliance.
  • Management of the governance and controls environment to ensure confidence in the treasury function.

  • Manage, coach, develop, lead small team and collaborate effectively with other teams members
  • Qualifications

  • Commerce or Business / Commerce Degree majoring in Accounting (required)
  • Professional qualifications: CA or CPA (desirable, but not essential)
  • Experience
  • > 10 years in debt capital markets
  • Experience within property sector (desirable, not essential)
  • Experience in dealing at the most senior level of an organisation
  • Experience managing a team in developing, negotiating and executing financing solutions
  • Skills

  • Strong understanding of financial markets, financial instruments, and debt instruments
  • Knowledge and experience with managing banking relationships and covenants
  • Proven ability to build relationships with key external parties as well as internal staff at all levels
  • Capability to work autonomously and be part of the broader team
  • Proven collaborative working style and team player with the ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple parties
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Very strong communication, presentation, and report writing skills
  • Experienced in stakeholder management, particularly senior management and Board members
  • Deadline focussed with excellent time management and organisational ability
  • Appropriate handling of sensitive information
  • Learning agility and ability to think laterally about challenges and problems
  • Proven ability to manage multiple project processes concurrently
