Where you'll be working
This is a specialist position based in the Day Treatment Unit (Northern Sydney Cancer Centre), and the Haematology ward and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit of Royal North Shore Hospital.

What you'll be doing
The BMT Pharmacist is responsible for providing high quality pharmaceutical services to the patients of RNSH under the supervision of the Director of BMT Services. The BMT Pharmacist will perform or supervise the tasks of drug distribution necessary to ensure the safe and accurate distribution of medications. The BMT Pharmacist is expected to liaise with the NSW Bone Marrow Transplant network regarding pharmaceutical issues to ensure that quality Pharmaceutical care procedures and protocols are established that provide optimal patient care to transplant recipients across NSW.
The Bone Marrow Transplant Pharmacist is responsible for providing high quality pharmaceutical services to the patients of RNSH under the supervision of the Director of BMT Services
Provide high quality clinical pharmaceutical services to BMT patients in accordance with Pharmacy Care Plans and clinical protocols
Assist in cytotoxic production unit in accordance with protocols and provide advice to nursing and medical staff regarding cytotoxic medications and adjuvant therapy
Participate in clinical pharmacy services provision including on-call rosters
Assist in the development of the hospital formulary for BMT related drugs and protocols for the treatment of BMT patients
Participating in relevant research projects and presenting at professional conferences & publication in relevant journals
Clinical trials including scientific and research review of BMT/Haematology clinical trial protocols; education of patients and staff regarding investigational drugs, liaison with Senior Clinical trials Pharmacist and staff during duration of trial; assessment of protocols prior to presentation to Human Research Ethics Committees.
Involvement in education of health professionals and consumers about medicines

Collaboration with Bone Marrow Transplant program in the ongoing management of BMT patients at RNSH.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to provide evidence of significant contributions to Quality improvement activities that includes planning, implementation as well as documentation.
Demonstrated specialist knowledge of the care of patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
Demonstrated extensive haematology and oncology hospital experience.
Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
