Position Summary

Job Overview

The primary function is to set-up and operate CNC Lathe and Milling machines, often several simultaneously, and process parts through operations that meet quality and productivity standards.

Job Duties

* Review paperwork and pull system and decide sequence of machining operations. Check material for correctness.
* Revise program or process to compensate for changes in tooling and tool locations.
* Setup parts; Get fixture, jaws, and stops if needed, find work offsets X0, Y0, and Z0 for part; use de-burring tools.
* Touch tools off pre-setter in lathes and indicate drills and taps on lathes and drills and reamers on mills.
* Verify dimension of parts using various gauges (calipers, thread gauges, etc…). Check all dimensions of part against blueprint.
* Troubleshoot and resolve problems on machines. Request assistance from maintenance on more serious problems. Repair or replace parts as required.
* Diagnose issues with the machine and work to correct these problems. Notify supervisor when parts fail to meet specifications.
* Perform other duties as requested or required.
* Maintain inventory of all tooling, fixturing, collets, spare parts, etc. Analyze tooling wear to aid in improving overall performance. Ensure that all inventories are in good condition. Recommend / request via Supervisor replacement orders to be submitted.
* Train and assist new and existing operators, setup operators and cell technicians.
* Assist in analysis of non-conforming parts produced in the area to determine root cause. Recommend / make necessary changes or modifications to process to avoid reoccurrence.
* Submit waste reductions/cost avoidance.
* Perform other duties as requested or required.

Job Requirements

* High School Diploma or GED
* 2years+ manufacturing setup experience
* Requires knowledge of machining fundamentals and operating skills
* Basic reading and writing knowledge required for correct dimensions and tolerances
* Must be able to read blueprints and work schedules
* Be able to use precision measuring instruments, testing devices, and equipment to check parts, etc…
* Able to read various inspection equipment; micrometer (OD&ID), caliper, refractometer, measurement gauges; thread gauges (OD & ID), plug gauges, etc…
* Basic computer skills
* Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
* Ability to troubleshoot
* Problem solving skills
* Basic math skills including basic trigonometry (sine, cosine, tangent).

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

* Required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend to the floor and lift objects.
* Repetitive carrying, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
