Specialty Finance Counsel 

We are looking for a talented, passionate, and dedicated equipment leasing and finance attorney to join our legal team. In this position, you will provide legal advice and strategic expertise to Signature Bank's equipment lease and financing subsidiary, Signature Financial LLC, which engages in a range of transactions, including equipment leases and loans, vehicle funding programs, and franchise lending. You will be embedded in the business and serve as a direct advisor to the equipment leasing and financing units, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Lending

In this role, your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Advise relationship managers and credit risk teams on structuring leasing and loan transactions in varied industries, including construction, transportation and manufacturing
  • Provide transactional support, including the review, negotiation, and drafting of relevant documents, including term sheets, leasing and loan agreements for true and “TRAC” tax leases, capital leases, and term loans, and related security/collateral documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain standard documentation and procedures
  • Manage closings, including coordinating with internal business units and outside counsel
  • To be successful, your background should match these qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience with leasing and loan transactions, practicing at a law firm and/or in-house legal department at a commercial bank, equipment leasing/finance company, or other financial services company
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited institution required
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of New York
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making skills under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines

  • Signature Bank offers a base salary in this position with a range of $120,000-$150,000, dependent on qualifications and experience. In addition, there is an annual bonus plan that is paid based on merit and performance in the role.
