The Tasks

To supervise all operational facets of the transport operation for the purpose of ensuring the distribution of goods to all the Client’s restaurants serviced by the Distribution Centre (DC) in a timely and cost effective manner. To ensure that the Client considers the delivery service to be world class and highly customer focused.

  • Ensure hazard free workplace through daily department inspections and corrective actions
  • Participate in injury and collision investigations in conjunction with the Compliance Officer and Safety Committee
  • Actively participate on Safety Committee
  • Promote safety and wellness awareness in the workplace
  • Ensure safety policies, procedures and programs are adhered to
  • Effectively respond to injuries through appropriate medical treatment and suitable duties accommodation  
  • Manage daily labour hours in conjunction with scheduled route hours and Basic Fatigue Management (BFM)
  • Assist in the implementation of action plans to address systemic gaps to achieve budget
  • Identify cost saving initiatives for the department
  • Assist in preparation of business cases, as required
  • Enter transactions into the Purchase Order log in accordance with Finance guidelines
  • Participate in month-end financial process
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective daily operations are completed in support of the route schedule
  • Drive operations to ensure KPI’s are achieved
  • Maintain operations and fleet in compliance with legislative and customer driven requirements
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement within the workplace
  • Ensure process adherence, including review and training as required
  • Understand and ensure compliance with relevant Legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and HR policies  
  • In collaboration with Human Resources and Department Manager, effectively manage employee and industrial relations at the department
  • Actively communicate within the department and between functional areas to align and support the communication framework outlined by the department manager
  • Appropriately escalate people issues to Department Manager and/or HR, as required
  • Implement training programs in accordance with company guidelines
  • Review and adjust employee entries in the payroll system to ensure accuracy within the required timeframe
  • All employee-related report management (Leave, RDO Management etc)
  • Investigate customer issues related to the delivery and implement corrective actions
  • Other duties/projects, as directed  

The Successful Candidate

  • 2 years supervisory experience in a warehouse/logistics/distribution business
  • Intermediate to advanced user proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experienced with Telematics and TMS systems required
  • Strong knowledge of WHS requirements
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, DQMP and quality systems
  • Sound knowledge of warehouse/transport industry industrial relations and enterprise agreements
  • Sound knowledge of warehouse/transport costing principals and budgeting
  • Tertiary qualifications in a logistics discipline an advantage
  • Food industry warehouse/transport experience
  • FMCG background
