The Opportunity

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a PSL 6 Manager, Electrical Services within Property Services Branch. 
The Property Service Branch is seeking to recruit a motivated, adaptable, and innovative person for the role of Manager, Electrical Services. Electrical Services is a unit within Maintenance Services, responsible for the electrical infrastructure, associated plant and equipment of the building.
Maintenance Services is the maintenance authority for Parliament House and is responsible for repairs and maintenance of the building's structure, fabric, finishes, landscape and all engineering services such as air-conditioning, power, lighting, hydraulic services, and movement systems.
As part of the Electrical Services team, the successful candidate will be required to contribute to the overall service delivery of the Electrical unit by undertaking tasks including, but not limited to, providing daily operations and coordinating maintenance schedules; managing continuous improvement processes; providing technical and coordination support, and ensuring the highest levels of safety in compliance with policy and guidelines.
The role requires working with a wide variety of clients, internal and external to the Parliament, in a dynamic work environment where priorities and deadlines frequently change. The team provides the resources to carry out planned and breakdown maintenance with a mix of in-house trade staff and external contractors.

Job Specific Requirements

• The successful application will have and maintain an unrestricted ACT Electrical Licence.
• You will be required to undergo a medical assessment to determine fitness-for-duty prior to appointment. Applicants must demonstrate the physical capacity to perform the full range of duties, including bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, elevated platform work, as well as undertaking and maintaining the training requirements associated with the role and Duty Statement of this position.
• You must be well presented, neat and tidy at all times and abide by the Parliamentary Service Values and Codes of Conduct.
• The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the PSL 6 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Oversee the day-to-day operation and schedule coordination of the section, ensuring the effective and efficient completion of all tasks.
2. Manage and supervise the Electrical Services trade groups, providing leadership and resolving staff management issues, whilst also providing support to the Assistant Director on section management.
3. Liaise with and manage relationships with high level internal and external stakeholders to ensure a positive outcome.
4. Use the computerised Maintenance Management Systems to create and maintain asset information, maintenance plans, schedules, and work orders.
5. Provide first instance technical information to Administrative, Trades groups and key stakeholders to ensure the smooth completion of tasks.
6. Provide advice and continuous support to Property Services Branch and liaise with trade groups to ensure the smooth progression of planned project works.
7. Ensure the highest levels of safety in compliance with the Department of Parliamentary Services Work Health and Safety requirements.
8. Other duties as required, including but not limited to, working at height, First-aid, confined space entry and rescue, investigation, planning, lifting, climbing, ladder, elevated platform access works, lifting and other physical activities requiring suitable levels of fitness.
