DIGITAL SCIENCE INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.

The Digital Science Team is responsible for setting the strategies for Digital Health across the Development Organization and working across all Therapeutic Areas to bring those strategies to life for AbbVie and patients. Digital Science members identify, evaluate and operationalize digital health technologies (DHTs), including wearable devices, mobile apps, and other health information technologies, through clinical research. The team utilizes advanced analytics, including machine learning, artificial intelligence algorithms, to develop and validate novel digital endpoints.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop machine learning/deep learning algorithm(s) for novel digital endpoint, including generating validation data set in the digital science lab, data processing, designing the model architecture, hyperparameter tuning, model validation, etc.

  • Contribute to AbbVie’s internal digital data processing toolkit, implement the machine learning framework

  • Summarize results, present to internal stakeholders and write manuscript for external publication
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Operations Research, or related field
  • Must be enrolled in university during the internship period

  • Research experience in machine learning / deep learning and time series data analysis

  • Strong background in methodology research and expertise in working with Python and PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to Digital Health Technologies and Digital Signal Processing
  • Experience in Python package development

  • Working knowledge in design pattern, AWS/Sagemaker, and Github

  • Expected graduation date between August 2023 and December 2024
