We are working with Australia’s leading shellfish aquaculture company with operations spanning South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania with vertically integrated capability in abalone, mussels and oysters. With the purpose of “sharing the joy of shellfish for and with the planet”, the business is executing a growth strategy aided by investment in new product formats, market development (domestic, and export - Asia and North America) and farming and processing capability.

The role of Supply Chain Manager is a new role created to improve the cost and control of product through the value chain – eliminating waste and unlocking value by challenging the business to always do better. The role will work across the entire business requiring regular travel from the Adelaide base.

The role reports to the GM – Production Services, and will need to develop close working collaborative relationships with the Executive team and farm and operational management.


Key Purpose

As the business is looking to improve sales integration, the initial priority for this role is to map out the existing supply network and determine cost and quality effective solutions to enable product to be delivered to key local and export customers. This includes developing cold-chain supply solutions, inventory holding and handling points and working with business partners to support business to business and direct to consumer models. This will require collaboration with finance, sales and marketing and operations to ensure a complete systems approach is considered.

The role will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery through:
providing strategic direction, oversight and management of national shellfish supply chain with oversight of the end-to-end supply chain processes introducing new technologies where applicable
Ensure that there is visibility and alignment of the supply-demand plan by all stakeholders.
overall leadership and oversight responsibility of operating budgets
work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to identify, develop and implement supply chain improvements
developing 3-year strategic supply chain and distribution plans including capacity planning and logistics network optimisation
project management of supply chain improvement initiatives and associated change management programs 
Implement best practice and continuous improvement methodologies and tools to enhance the execution of business objectives and drive process improvement whilst maintaining cost structures.
Streamline all supply chain activities to drive forward operational excellence within the business and improve supply chain efficiencies.
Improve the agility and planning optimisation of the supply chain and influence the successful implementation plan of the systems.
establish performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain
Maintain and oversee accurate stock levels to be able to maximise sales, eliminate rework, minimise out of stock items and deliver in full on time.
oversight of transport/logistical supplier management, including pricing and contracts management, negotiating cost saving opportunities throughout the supply chain 
advise product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials.
monitor the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identify new suppliers in conjunction with the approved supplier program.
perform other related duties as assigned.
significant experience in supply chain management, preferably cold chain and with export exposure, with leadership responsibility of multi-disciplinary teams/virtual teams
experience in leading demand/supply planning, warehouse, logistics and procurement teams.
Experience with using electronic warehouse management systems and an ability to adapt to new software and systems.
experience in Aquaculture is preferable but not essential. FMCG/Food Production experience well regarded.
process mindset with ability to analyse and evaluate supply chain designs 
highly developed interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills 
ability to travel interstate and intrastate on a semi-regular basis 
proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
gaining a thorough understanding of company products and logistics.
strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required; Supply Chain/Logistics major preferred.
