We are looking for an experienced PR and Communications Manager to join the Hamilton Island team. Experience working in an environment that throws a variety of challenges your way is essential.
As Communications Manager, you will work with key internal stakeholders to lead the strategy and execution of Hamilton Island’s internal and external communications and develop effective programs to generate positive publicity and word of mouth for Hamilton Island and associated entities. You will oversee the proactive development and management of a visiting media and content creator program and will be the media liaison for Hamilton Island Brand Events.

You are responsible for the management and operation of the Public Relations and Communications function at Hamilton Island and associated businesses including our parent group, Balmoral Australia.
You will also :
Lead the strategy and execution of our external and internal communications for Hamilton Island Enterprises and on occasion, Balmoral Australia, Wild Oats XI and Robert Oatley Vineyards.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to plan and execute a wide range of communications strategies through multi-channel vehicles such as media, social media, client communications, content marketing, advertising and internal publications and channels.
Draft high quality media releases, internal announcements, and varied content for social media, website and media.
Develop and drive internal communications strategy and executing activities including CEO communications and updates and company newsletters.
Manage reputational issues to reduce impact on Hamilton Island’s reputation and brand.
Adhere to and develop the existing crisis communication strategy and work closely with media partners and other stakeholders.
Draft award submissions and ensure Hamilton Island remains focused on high impact opportunities.
Public Relations and Crisis Management
Recommend effective, measurable programs designed to stimulate fashionability, influence the narrative and word of mouth endorsement for a Hamilton Island as a holiday destination amongst key target audiences.
Seek new opportunities to grow the Hamilton Island brand.
Lead the global PR program in development and implementation to support Hamilton Island Brand Campaigns and Events such as Hamilton Island Race Week and Pas De Deux in Paradise.
Manage the implementation of a publicity strategy to highlight Hamilton Island story angles and experiences for distribution across communication platforms.
Work with media partners and influencers to generate publicity for Hamilton Island and ensure it remains top of my mind for key audiences.
Media and Content Creator Program
Manage the Media Program as part of Hamilton Island’s Brand Events program– this includes media liaison, air and accommodation bookings, hosting as required and familiarisation itineraries.
Develop and manage accreditation, visitation dates and bookings throughout the year.
Assist with managing Talent for Brand Events and Campaigns including pre-event meetings and liaison, air and accommodation bookings, itineraries, hosting as required.
Liaise with marketing and operations stakeholders to create extraordinary media and content creator famil itineraries.
Work with Island Concierge and relevant island stakeholders to ensure strong management of famils.
Manage air and accommodation bookings, dietary requirements and special requests.
With demonstrated initiative, creativity and unwavering attention to detail you are well-connected, have a passion for storytelling, are an excellent writer and have a roll up your sleeve’s mentality. You have solid experience in media relations, publicity and/ or corporate communications roles and can deliver a steady stream of activity that delivers results. To be successful in this role you work well under pressure, meet deadlines and excel working both independently and as part of a close team.

Excellent writing skills and the ability to adjust writing styles to different audiences (Essential)
Strong influencing and communication skills particularly in relation to media and senior management (Essential)
