About Us

Epi-minder Pty Ltd is an Australian company formed in June 2018 by Cochlear Limited, Bionics Institute, University of Melbourne, St. Vincent’s Hospital and private investors to develop and commercialise the world’s first commercially available ultra-long term epilepsy monitoring solution - Minder™. 

Minder™ is an implanted device designed to be minimally invasive and to record EEG signal over a period of months or even years which can:

  • Track brain activity 24/7 by collecting EEG data from an implanted sub-scalp device
  • Utilise computer assisted review to remove the significant burden of ultra-long term EEG analysis (currently done entirely by human visual analysis by trained personnel)
  • Accurately count seizures including profiling and reporting of the patient’s disease state; and
  • Connect the patient to the physician using remote-care technology

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Project Manager to join us in Cochlear’s global headquarters in Macquarie University on a 12-months fixed term contract .

You will be working as a Cochlear employee within the incubations team to contribute towards the development of the unique commercial offering of Epiminder. The Project Manager is responsible to lead a team of engineers and technicians to plan and execute the process engineering work packages in specific implant, electrode and externals projects in accordance with the Cochlear Quality Management System.

Your responsibilities will include…

  • Manages projects that are usually within a single region/business unit from concept to completion.
  • Works across cross-functional teams to achieve operational project objectives.
  • Influences stakeholders to deliver product on time, on budget as per the project plan.
  • Networks, influences and persuades others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
  • Coaching and mentorship for new starters
  • Open and effective communication within the team facilitating an efficient team environment
  • Master and nurture knowledge of various process technologies. Master constraints such as Regulatory constraints, Design constraints, Business and Strategic constraints etc. 
  • Assume authority over Incubation Operations manufacturing process plans, specification and validation, including review and approval of formal documents as process design authority
  • Advise senior management on changes, risks and opportunities in Incubation Operations projects.
  • Ensure changes do not affect or have the potential to affect the Safety and Effectiveness of a   product
  • Comply with EpiMinder (or Cochlear where decided) Design Control Process and V&V quality standards

About You:

Minimum:

  • 10 years of industrial experience, preferably in Class 2 or 3 medical devices
  • Demonstrated capability in team leadership of engineers executing technically complex projects.
  • Ability to write requirements, process architecture, process specifications, Process FMEAs, preferably in Class 2 or 3 medical devices
  • Pragmatic problem solver of difficult problems and producer of solutions outside standard procedures.  Knowledge of formal problem-solving processes for root cause failure analysis such as Kepner Tregoe Method and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Capability with design tools for capable manufacturing/processes, equipment and tooling.
  • Quality minded, focused on details
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ideal:

  • Ability to develop and pitch proposals for strategic direction in technologies and process design for Incubation Operations. 
  • Substantial experience in Active Implantable Medical Device (AIMD) manufacture
  • Record of success in development and management of supplier & subcontractor contacts
