About our Facilities
Shellharbour hospital is a busy acute care facility which provides emergency services, elective surgical services, general medical, antenatal and primary family health care, satellite renal dialysis and adolescent and adult mental health services on site
Port Kembla Hospital is a specialist referral hospital for Rehabilitation, Aged Care and Palliative Care. Future plans for Port Kembla services are Rehabilitation will move to the New Shellharbour Hospital (NSH) when complete, although will be required to relocate to Bulli District Hospital temporarily in the second half of 2023. Some Palliative Care services will relocate to Wollongong hospital at the same time, with Palliative Care services relocating to Bulli District Hospital.

Building of the NSH is due to commence in early 2023 and will open in late 2027. The NSH will mean a significant expansion to the Emergency Department (including a Paediatric Assessment Unit) and Ambulatory Care service, increased elective surgical services, establishment of an Intensive Care Unit and specialist Medical, Aged Care and Rehabilitation units as well as innovative virtual models of care.
