Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital

Tamworth Maternity is a regional and referral hospital and is part of the Tiered Perinatal Network across the Hunter New England Area Health Service. Tamworth Maternity is the largest maternity facility in the Upper Hunter/Northern sector and will birth approximately 1200 babies this year.
Tamworth services a large geographical area of approximately 130,000 square kilometres and delivers low risk and high risk care to women across the district from 34 weeks gestation.
The demographics of our midwifery team comprises of a management team, Education team, Midwives/New Grads, Student midwives both Bachelor of Mid and Midstart (dual), Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Assistant in Midwifery and clerical team. We offer a transitional program for Registered nurses and support many smaller facilities in training their new staff. It is a fabulous team and we all work hard to provide the best care we can for women and babies and support each other.
As the successful candidate you will be provided with an opportunity to experience a variety of opportunities within the maternity service. This would include opportunities of working in Antenatal and postnatal unit, birthing suite, antenatal clinics, midwifery home visiting services and potential for midwifery group practice.
We are looking for highly motivated midwives experienced or willingness to learn and join our team at Tamworth maternity. If you are someone who is committed to supporting and working in a progressive and highly collaborative driven team of enthusiastic, friendly and passionate midwives, then this opportunity might be for you.
At Tamworth we understand the challenges of your profession and we are happy to support full time/permanent part time and casual across our service. We are building a strong education team led by a very experienced, passionate and dynamic midwifery educator who is focused on the midwife individually and supporting their professional journey for the safety of the mother and baby unit. We offer orientation to all areas within our service, mandatory workshops, daily education sessions and well-being meditation sessions to all staff. Tamworth is focusing on the midwife and students by improving workplace practice; providing clinical supervision, Acute Immediate response to trauma support, Mentoring in Midwifery program and social events. New graduates are offered rotational rostering to clinical areas with midwifery education support, staff are mentored in leadership roles should they wish to follow these pathways.

Information for Applicants:
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
