A great opportunity has arisen with our client based in Pietermaritzburg. Use your experience in supply chain and knowledge of goods imports to effectively oversee the day-to-day activities associated with the supply chain function for inbound goods. The incumbent will work closely with the Demand Planner. General overview of responsibilities: Ensure all goods are received at the relevant warehouseLiaise with forwarding agents on documentation, pricing, tariff coding, queries, delays, special clearing instructions and delivery requirementsEnsure compliance at all times with all importing statutory regulations.Continually evaluate levels of service, rates and best routes to ensure that the company is always optimising deliveryProvide constant updates to inform all relevant internal staff on the status of all incoming orders and co-ordinate and communicate all deliveries with warehousingCoordinate and check the calculation of all average landed costs per orderEnsure invoiced prices are consistent with agreed transfer prices / purchase ordersAssist with obtaining import permits as and when requiredMaintain the import registerAssist accounts with payments where necessaryProvide backup to the demand plannerObtain and grow product knowledge as well as understanding and adherence to company processes and IT systems. Requirements:MatricAt least 3 years of experience in the field of procurement or supply chainSolid understanding of import/exportStrong literacy and numeracy skillsExcellent communication skills and able to maintain good relations with all stakeholdersAble to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detailA proactive approach, sense of urgency and positive attitude.
