Technical Applications Specialist


Our Client a Global Tech firm is seeking a Technical Applications Specialist to join their team in Sandton. They offer stability, growth, attractive rates and a great working environment.

As a Technical Applications Specialist, you'll be responsible for providing technical support to various business applications and integrations. To provide technical support for various business applications. To install new applications, upgrade existing applications and troubleshoot any problems related to applications and integrations to other systems.


Responsible for a list of supported applications from the organization’s application portfolio
Ensure that supported business applications are operationally healthy, maintained and optimized
Ensure availability of supported applications 24/7
Troubleshoot and test supported applications
Responsible for the deployment of software changes for supported applications to production
Responsible for supported applications patching and server patching
Perform Disaster Recovery activities to restore business applications, draft data recovery documentation
Provide operational support to business users and analysts
Responsible for system/application configuration
Responsible for upgrade activities of supported applications (back-ups, installation configurating, test plan and change management planning)
Perform fault finding, diagnosing and bug fixing
Ensure security of the system/applications and assign access based on Service Access Request (SAR)
Operate as a technical team resource when application upgrades, major changes to applications (or where application input is required) and new systems are required
Follow release, capacity, availability, compliance, service continuity and change management for supported business applications
Test, implement and document the solution
Ensure compliance with company risk policies
Interact with key stakeholders including business application owners, application end users to ensure they receive the best service from IMS


IT related Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma
Microsoft Certification; MCSE, A+, N+ an advantage
ITIL foundation
4 - 6 years’ experience in Technical Applications Support
Strong knowledge of business systems
Understanding of the technical design and workings of the application solutions
Technical architecture and design
Knowledge of Infrastructure components (Network, Storage, Virtual Server Platforms, Backups)
Knowledge of Windows Servers Operating Systems
Knowledge of Relational Database Management
Technical support knowledge of applications (for example, Oracle JDE, Transform, DSI Barcoding, OnBase)
