DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Tradesperson (Apprentice) is responsible for providing assistance to the Course Superintendent and Assistant Course Superintendent in relevant areas of course maintenance and to the standards required by the Management and Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

1.Responsible for the operation and adjustment of turf machinery as appropriate.

2.Responsible for cleaning and inspecting machinery after use, reporting problems to the, Mechanic, Course Superintendent or Assistant Course Superintendent.

3.Under general supervision applies fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides and insecticides and plant protectants.

4.Responsible for trimming trees, cutting grass, watering plants and other gardening duties as defined or directed.

5.Responsible for the grounds maintenance including removing cuttings, raking leaves, cleaning and emptying litter bins and cleaning gutters, drains and culverts.

6.Performs routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial and other play surfaces.

7.As directed repairs and minor renovation work involving carpentry and painting

8.As directed, formation and maintenance of all gardens, lawns and greens.

9.Compliance at all times with Health and Safety requirements in accordance with the relevant legislation and Club OH&S policies. Report incidents, accidents and/or maintenance issues as appropriate.

10.Ensure customer/member service and satisfaction is paramount at all times.

11.Compliance with the rules, By-Laws and Club policies as published from time to time.

12.Performs other work related or non-trade duties as directed.

Judgment and Decision Making

1.Ability to make decisions based on knowledge and experience that ensure problems and issues related to the position are promptly remedied or reported to appropriate persons.

2.Ability to make decisions and judgments and whilst doing so recognise and consider the best interests of The Eastern Golf Club

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Specialist Knowledge and Skills

1. Complete a trade or equivalent qualification.

General Skills

1.Ability to learn to operate with minimal supervision and showhigh levels of initiative.

2.Ability to maintain professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.

Interpersonal Skills

1.Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment or individually.

2.Demonstrated ability to communicate to Members, guests and staff in a courteous, friendly and professional manner at all times.

SALARY

As the successful candidate, you will receive:

$30,000 – $40,000 plus 10.5% Superannuation

    MORE INFORMATION

  • People with tertiary qualifications need not apply. Current university applicants may have to defer their studies to be eligible for this traineeship.
  • This position is best suited to a recent secondary school leaver.
