The Opportunity

You will lead a team focused on understanding source of product failures and reducing complaints as part of our R&D team focused on our diagnostic embedded technology products.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

* Work as technical subject matter expert and manage a small team of R&D engineers.


* Lead team that serves as 3rd tier support for returned product investigations providing product expertise, how to read design documentation, good engineering techniques, failure mechanisms, appropriate level root cause analysis.


* Lead teams performing investigations that have been escalated to R&D.


* Provide frequent and clear status updates.


* Partner with QA and Operations to identify root causes for changes in complaint trends.


* Lead team which performs and document failure investigations for clinical trials.


* Maintain biohazard lab used for clinical trial investigations,


* Evaluate and develop improvement of tools and techniques for identifying causes of failures in new products.


* Act as independent reviewer on programs in which not directly involved, including technical design reviews of products and design requirements documents, and CAPAs.


* Negotiate priorities and set expectations.


* Keep track of multiple ongoing investigations and projects.


* Assist as needed with other projects within R&D.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* BS in Electrical Engineering, or other discipline with experience in Electrical Engineering and 8 years relevant experience with BS or 6 years relevant experience with MS.


* Experience with creation of specific software tools for methods of investigation for new product requirements.


* Experience with PCBA design and bring-up, and/or PCBA level failure analysis and root cause.


* Team management or large project team management experience highly desired.


* Good understanding of failure modes of electrical components and software.


* Experience with electro-mechanical products, produced at high volume.


* Good engineering sensibilities, good knowledge of electrical engineering principles including, analog design, analog measurement circuitry, embedded software, and knowledge of engineering tools.


* Good understanding of processes used in the design, documentation, and verification of medical devices or IVD.


* Experience working with biohazard material or in chemical laboratories is a plus.
