What You'll Do:

The Ohio Department of Health's Office of Human Resources - Operations Management is seeking a candidate to fill an Inventory Control Specialist 2 position. The encumbant of this position must have a thorough knowledge of inventory control to ensure the department's equipment and supply needs are met. Primary duties of this position include:

* Coordinates, analyzes & controls statewide inventory ODH and all grantees and sub-grantee agencies (e.g., local health departments, WIC clinics, STD clinics).
* Maintains inventory database for equipment (e.g., OAKS, WASP); updates data on items received, assigned, shipped and/or salvaged.
* Verifies the accuracy of items arriving at the 246 North High Complex versus accompanying paperwork; identifies the payment method used and the general condition of the shipment; reviews invoices, purchase orders and/or packing slips to ensure correctness and to ensure accurate quantities delivered; inspects orders for damage and expiration date.
* Develops, implements and enforces policies and procedures on inventory control (e.g., asset management, fleet management, records management, copier management) and salvage disposal for ODH, grantees and sub-grantees agencies
* Assists with preparation of documents for mailing and processing; assists with delivery and pick up of various materials; loads and unloads vehicles; operates motorized vehicles to pick up and deliver items (e.g., records, mail, supplies) as necessary from various ODH locations.
* Responds to inquiries and requests for information either by telephone, mail or email; maintains communication with various ODH or other governmental agencies (e.g., DAS).
* Performs related administrative and clerical duties (e.g., prepares reports and correspondence; creates spreadsheets; coordinates ordering/shipping with agency program staff/public; maintains neat, orderly work site).

18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in inventory control; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in electronic data processing related to inventory control; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations.

* Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria:

* Associates or advanced degree in business or public administration
* Experience monitoring, tracking and updating inventory of Agency assets and materials (e.g., laptops, desktops, program meters, MARCS radios, records, copiers)
* Experience in receiving materials from delivery vendors (e.g., verifying item counts, item receipt condition, system delivery confirmation and following proper storage procedures)
* Experience communicating with internal and external partners (e.g., team members, ODH employees, state agency employees, and vendors)
* Experience working with inventory control applications (e.g., Excel, WASP, IRMS, or OAKS)
* Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., powered and non-powered pallet jacks, carts)
* Experience generating reports and creating spreadsheets
